Yes, the title is correct. When it's all said and done, Mariners Designated Hitter, Quote Machine and locker room "Distraction" "Leader" would like to coach Little League when his playing days are over.
Everett said he's always been able to correct his problems at the plate, and to that he credits the coaches he had in Little League and in school.
So much so that he says he's going to be try to coach Little Leaguers when he's no longer playing in the big leagues.
"A lot of guys, when they retire they want to stay here (the major leagues)," Everett said. "When I retire, I'm going to Little League. That's where they need the teaching. If you teach kids the basics there, it will stick with them.
"In Little League parks now, they are teaching 'SportsCenter.' It's not about catching the ball or throwing. It's all about (hitting home runs). At that level, it should be about baseball. It should be about fun."
I guess there could be some positives from that, I bet allot of parents would think twice about lipping off to the Coach. Whining and moaning about their kid not getting playing time, or calling him out when he's made bum coaching calls. Come on, I know you just got a visual of Carl going all postal on some "Baseball" Dad with a bat.
